Doctor-Led Pigmentation Care in Epsom Downs

Pigmentation Treatment in Epsom

Pigmentation is frustrating because it rarely has one cause. A brown patch on the cheek, a dark mark left after acne, melasma that changes with hormones, or pigmentation in intimate areas can all look similar. But they do not behave the same way. And they should not all be treated the same way.

At Epitomi, we do not treat pigmentation as a quick cosmetic fix. Dr Effie starts by looking at the pattern of pigmentation, your skin type, your triggers, your medical history and what your skin has already been through. Then we build a plan around your skin.

Treatment options include medical-grade skincare, LED light therapy, medical-grade chemical peels, PRX-T33, PRX-T Lady and microneedling.

Single treatment appointments range from £50 to £275. PRX-T33 course pricing is also available.

Why pigmentation needs proper assessment

Pigmentation is not just dark patches.

It can be caused by inflammation, sun exposure, hormones, acne, friction, hair removal, ingrown hairs or a combination of several triggers. Melasma behaves differently from post-inflammatory pigmentation. Pigment left after acne behaves differently from pigmentation caused by rubbing or irritation.

This matters because the wrong treatment can make pigmentation worse. Especially if your skin is easily inflamed, reactive, or naturally more prone to post-inflammatory pigmentation. Strong treatment is not always better. Sometimes it is just more irritation.

Dr Effie’s approach is careful and clinical. The aim is to reduce visible pigmentation, protect the skin barrier and help prevent the cycle from repeating.

No bleaching promises. No one-size-fits-all plan.

Pigmentation concerns we can help with

At Epitomi, we assess and treat a range of pigmentation concerns, including:

  • Melasma.
  • Post-inflammatory pigmentation after acne.
  • Dark marks left after breakouts, irritation or injury.
  • Sun-related pigmentation.
  • Uneven skin tone on the face, neck or decolletage.
  • Pigmentation linked to friction, hair removal, ingrown hairs or hormonal change.
  • Pigmentation in intimate and delicate areas, including the underarms, bikini line, external vulval skin, areolas and perianal area.

If a pigmented lesion has changed in size, shape, colour, texture, or has started bleeding, itching or crusting, it should be medically assessed before any cosmetic or aesthetic treatment is considered.

How we treat pigmentation at Epitomi

A good pigmentation plan usually has more than one part.

First, we work out what is driving the pigmentation. Then we decide what your skin can tolerate. Only then do we choose treatment. Your plan may include one or more of the following.

Medical-grade skincare

Medical-grade skincare is often the starting point for pigmentation. It helps prepare the skin, control inflammation and support your treatment results between appointments. Depending on your skin and diagnosis, Dr Effie may recommend active ingredients that target pigmentation, improve skin turnover or support barrier repair.

Some pigmentation concerns may need prescription treatment. If that is appropriate, Dr Effie will discuss it with you privately during consultation. Prescription-only medicines are not promoted on this page because they are not suitable for everyone and should not be chosen from a website.

LED light therapy

LED light therapy can be used as part of a wider pigmentation plan, especially when the skin is inflamed, stressed or reactive. It does not bleach the skin. That is not the aim.

LED is used to support skin recovery and help create a calmer foundation for other treatments. For some patients, that matters just as much as the treatment itself.

Medical-grade chemical peels

Medical-grade chemical peels can help with superficial pigmentation, uneven tone and dullness. The peel chosen depends on your skin type, the cause of the pigmentation and how reactive your skin is. A peel that is too aggressive can create more inflammation, which can lead to more pigmentation. That is why we do not choose peels by strength alone.

A course may be recommended, alongside skincare and daily sun protection.

PRX-T33 for face, neck and decolletage

PRX-T33 can be used on the face and neck to improve skin quality, texture and uneven tone, with less visible peeling than traditional medium-depth peels. It may be recommended when pigmentation is part of a wider concern, such as dullness, loss of firmness or uneven texture.

Current pricing:

  • PRX-T33 face and neck: £250
  • Decolletage add-on: £40
  • Course of three: £750
  • Course of five: £1,000

PRX-T Lady for intimate and delicate areas

Pigmentation in intimate or delicate areas is common. It can be linked to friction, shaving, waxing, ingrown hairs, irritation or hormonal change.

PRX-T Lady is used for areas including the underarms, bikini line, external vulval skin, areolas and perianal area. At Epitomi, this is treated as a skin concern. Not as a promise to change your natural skin colour. Not as cosmetic bleaching.

Dr Effie will assess the area first, check whether there is irritation or an underlying skin condition, and advise whether PRX-T Lady is appropriate.

PRX-T Lady: £275

Microneedling

Microneedling may be considered for some types of post-inflammatory pigmentation, especially where there is also texture change or acne marking. It is not right for every pigmentation concern. For example, if your pigmentation is easily triggered by inflammation, the priority may be to calm and stabilise the skin first.

When microneedling is suitable, it is usually part of a wider plan that includes skincare and pigment control between sessions.

Do we offer laser or IPL for pigmentation?

We do not currently offer laser or IPL for pigmentation at Epitomi. That is intentional. Pigmentation can be sensitive, especially when melasma or post-inflammatory pigmentation is involved. Heat-based treatments are not always the right choice and can make some pigmentation worse.

Dr Effie will recommend the treatment route she feels is safest and most appropriate for your skin.

What results can you expect?

Pigmentation treatment takes patience. Some marks respond well. Some fade slowly. Melasma can improve, but it can also come back, especially when hormones, heat, sun exposure or inflammation continue to trigger it.

The aim is to reduce visible pigmentation, improve the evenness of the skin and give you a plan you can maintain. Daily sun protection is part of that plan. It is not optional. No clinic treatment will hold well if the skin is being triggered every day by UV exposure, visible light, heat or repeated inflammation.

Your consultation

Your consultation is where the plan is made. Dr Effie will assess your skin, ask about your medical history, review previous treatments and talk through what is realistic. She will also explain which options are suitable, which are not, and why.

You may be advised to start with skincare before in-clinic treatment. That is not a delay. It is often what makes the treatment safer and more effective.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the right pigmentation treatment for me?

That depends on the type of pigmentation, your skin type, your triggers and your medical history. Melasma, post-inflammatory pigmentation and pigmentation caused by friction or irritation all need different thinking. Dr Effie will assess your skin first, then recommend the safest treatment route.

Do you treat melasma?

Yes. Dr Effie can assess melasma and recommend a personalised treatment plan. Melasma is often long-term and can be triggered by hormones, heat and light exposure. Treatment can help improve its appearance, but maintenance is important.

Can pigmentation be removed permanently?

Some pigmentation can fade significantly. Some can return. Melasma, in particular, can relapse. The aim is to improve the visible pigmentation and reduce the triggers that keep bringing it back.

Is pigmentation treatment suitable for darker skin tones?

It can be, but it needs care. Medium to deeper skin tones can be more prone to post-inflammatory pigmentation, which means irritation can leave darker marks. Dr Effie will choose treatment based on what your skin can safely tolerate.

Do you treat pigmentation after acne?

Yes. Dark marks after acne are a common form of post-inflammatory pigmentation. Treatment may include skincare, peels, LED, microneedling or a combination, depending on whether you still have active acne, inflammation or texture changes.

Do you treat intimate pigmentation?

Yes. Dr Effie can assess pigmentation in intimate and delicate areas, including the underarms, bikini line, external vulval skin, areolas and perianal area. PRX-T Lady may be suitable for some patients. A consultation is needed first.

Will I need a course of treatment?

Often, yes. Pigmentation usually improves gradually. A single appointment may help some concerns, but most pigmentation plans involve skincare, treatment sessions and maintenance.

Do you have before and after photographs?

Before and after photographs are not being shown on this page at launch. Pigmentation results need context, including diagnosis, skin type, triggers, homecare and maintenance. Dr Effie can talk you through realistic expectations during consultation.
