Look and feel your best self

Dermal Fillers are a well-known and extremely popular injectable treatment for tackling the signs of ageing, rejuvenating the skin and helping to enhance natural facial features.

Dermal fillers are HA or hyaluronic acid based injectables that naturally break down with time typically lasting 9-15 months depending on the area treated and the amount injected.

Dermal fillers are used to hydrate and volumes the lips for a plump and natural look, with an expert focus on balance and proportions. By gently adding volume to the lips, you can expect an enhanced shape and structure that is perfectly suited to your face shape.

Frequently asked questions

What are lip fillers?

Lip fillers are a gel made from hyaluronic acid, a substance that occurs naturally in your skin and body. I place small amounts into the lip to add volume, improve shape or balance, or soften the fine lines that form around the mouth over time. Because the material is one your body already recognises, it behaves predictably, and it can be dissolved if we need to.

Will my lips look obviously done?

That depends entirely on how much is used and where it is placed, and it is the thing most patients worry about before they come in.

My approach is to work with the lip you have rather than to build a shape onto it. In most cases that means starting conservatively and reviewing, rather than trying to achieve everything in one appointment. If what you want is a dramatic change, I would rather have that conversation honestly at consultation than surprise you afterwards.

How long do lip fillers last?

You will see a change immediately, but the lips are a mobile area and they swell, so the first few days are not a fair picture. Swelling usually settles within two weeks and that is when I would judge the result.

Most patients find the effect lasts somewhere between six and fifteen months. Where you fall in that range depends on your metabolism, how much was used and how much you exercise. Results vary from person to person and I cannot promise a specific duration.

Does it hurt?

The lips are sensitive, so I do not pretend it is nothing. I apply a numbing cream for around thirty minutes beforehand, and I use fine needles, a cannula, or both, depending on what suits the area.

Most patients describe it as uncomfortable rather than painful. If you are anxious about it, tell me at consultation and we can plan around that.

What should I expect afterwards?

Swelling. Lips swell more than most areas of the face, and for the first twenty-four to forty-eight hours they can look considerably fuller than the final result. That is normal and it settles.

Bruising is common too, because the lip has a rich blood supply. It usually clears within a few days.

Please do not book this in the week before a wedding, a holiday or anything you are being photographed at. Leave yourself a clear two weeks where you can.

Rarely, patients can have an allergic reaction. I go through the risks and benefits with you before treatment and you will have a consent form to read and keep.

Can lip filler be dissolved?

Yes. Hyaluronic acid fillers can be broken down using an enzyme called hyaluronidase.

I mention this not as a selling point but because it matters. It is one of the reasons I use this type of filler in an area as visible as the lips. If you are unhappy with the result, or if there is a clinical reason to reverse it, there is a route back.

Who is not suitable for lip fillers?

Suitability is assessed at consultation, not over the phone. We discuss pregnancy and breastfeeding, any known allergies, active cold sores or any infection or skin condition around the mouth, your medical history and any medication you take.

If you get cold sores, tell me before treatment rather than after. It changes how I plan the appointment.

I do not treat anyone under the age of 18.

How much do lip fillers cost in Epsom?

Lip filler treatment at my clinic is £300. Prices are correct at the time of writing, so please check the current pricelist before booking.

That figure covers the treatment itself. Consultation is booked separately, and if I do not think treatment is right for you I will tell you at that appointment rather than proceed.
